(DALLAS) - The Packers, one victory away from their first Super Bowl appearance in 28 years, held a lead into the fourth quarter before finally succumbing to offensive firepower of eventual Super Bowl champions. Dallas RB Emmitt Smith, running behind the Cowboys' massive offensive line, rushes for 150 yards and three touchdowns on 35 carries as Green Bay sees its season end at Texas Stadium for the third straight year.  After a blocked punt led to a quick field goal by the Packers, Dallas came back with QB Troy Aikman throwing two scoring passes to Michael Irvin. Green Bay answered, however, with two quick scores of its own - a team postseason record 73-yard pass from Brett Favre to Robert Brooks as well as a Favre-to-Keith Jackson connection - to vault into the lead, 17-14. Cowboys scored another ten points before halftime, though, to go up 24-17. Green Bay scored the first 10 points of the second half, including a one-yard touchdown pass from Favre to Brooks, to hold a 27-24 advantage heading into the final 15 minutes. Smith's talents glistened in the fourth quarter, however, as he rushed for two touchdowns - sandwiched around a drive-killing interception by the Cowboys' Larry Brown in Dallas territory - to give the Cowboys their third Super Bowl appearance in four years.

September 3 : St. Louis Rams (1-0) 17, Green Bay Packers (0-1) 14
(GREEN BAY) - The St. Louis Rams switched coaches, addresses and philosophies philosophies, and on Sunday their luck changed, too. The Rams, who fled Anaheim, last winter and replaced coach Chuck Knox with Rich Brooks, picked off Brett Favre three times and snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 17-14 victory over host Green Bay. The new Rams, playing before a record crowd of 60,104 at Lambeau Field, where the Packers had won 10 straight, got a stunning performance by WR Isaac Bruce to offset their miserable rushing attack. In his first NFL start, Bruce blocked a punt in the second quarter, recovered it and then hauled in a touchdown pass five seconds later for a 7-0 halftime lead.

September 11 : Green Bay Packers (1-1) 27, Chicago Bears (1-1) 24
(CHICAGO) - Green Bay's offense carried the Packers in the first half Monday night. The defense came to the rescue in the second. The Packers, behind a record 99-yard touchdown pass from Brett Favre to Robert Brooks, jumped to a 24-7 halftime lead and then held on for a 27-24 victory. Chicago was on the Packers' 2-yard line, trailing 27-21 after a blocked punt and threatening to take the lead. But the Packers held and forced a field goal with nine minutes to go. The Packers moved to the Bears' 12 but botched a field goal attempt, giving Chicago one last chance. But with two minutes left, Reggie White forced a fumble and Wayne Simmons recovered with 1:59 to play and Green Bay had beaten its oldest rival again. Green Bay, which won both games with the Bears last season by a combined 73-9 score, appeared on the way to another lopsided victory. But a fourth-quarter interception by Donnell Woolford, who'd been burned on the 99-yarder, and a blocked punt by Anthony Marshall, giving the Bears the ball at the 2, put Chicago in position to win. After the Packers twice stopped Rashaan Salaam from the 2, Erik Kramer lofted a pass in the corner to Jeff Graham, who caught the ball out of bounds. Kevin Butler's 20-yard field goal then made it 27-24 with just more than nine minutes remaining. Favre was ready to put the game away. He hit Mark Chmura for a 20-yarder and connected on a 13-yarder to Edgar Bennett. Dorsey Levens then carried 21 yards to the Bears' 12. But Green Bay couldn't get in the end zone and this time a fumbled snap on a field goal attempt gave the Bears another chance. But White sacked Kramer and forced a fumble and Simmons recovered at the Bears' 22 and the Packers ran out the clock, sending Chicago to its eighth straight Monday night loss - five at home.

September 17 : Green Bay Packers (2-1) 14, New York Giants (0-3) 6
(GREEN BAY) - Brett Favre was good enough in the first half, and that's all he and the Green Bay Packers needed against the New York Giants. Favre threw touchdown passes to Mark Ingram and Robert Brooks and the Packers' defense made it stand up Sunday in a 14-6 victory over the winless Giants. The loss marked the first time coach Dan Reeves has started a season 0-3. Green Bay, 9-23-1 in the first three weeks of the past 11 seasons, moved to 2-1 for the first time since 1982. The Giants outgained the Packers, 303 yards to 198 but could only manage two field goals.

September 24 : Green Bay Packers (3-1) 24, Jacksonville (0-4) 14
(JACKSONVILLE) - With a pair of touchdown passes, Brett Favre joined some select company Sunday night. Favre tied an NFL record held by Dan Marino, Johnny Unitas and Don Meredith when he threw for at least two TDs in his 12th straight game, and the Green Bay defense stymied host Jacksonville for a 24-14 victory. Green Bay, off to its best since a 4-1 beginning to the strike-shortened 1982 season, could have beaten the expansion Jaguars even worse, but the Packers had a pass intercepted near the goal line, missed a field goal, failed to cover an on-sides kick and gave up a long punt return which led to a Jacksonville touchdown. Still, the Jaguar offense, rated last in the NFL, couldn't take advantage of its chances, even with the return of LT Tony Boselli, the No. 2 overall selection in the April draft who missed all of the preseason and the first three games with an injured left knee. Favre tied the record with two impressive scoring throws. His first was a 6-yarder to Robert Brooks in the middle of three defenders which gave the Packers a 10-0 lead in the final minute of the first half. After the Jaguars made it 17-7, Favre reached the record book by rolling to his left under pressure, throwing off the wrong foot just as he was hit and unleashing a 29-yard touchdown to Anthony Morgan with 9:08 remaining.

October 8 : Dallas Cowboys (5-1) 34, Green Bay Packers (3-2) 24
(DALLAS) - Troy Aikman wasn't supposed to play. He did, and the Green Bay Packers wish he didn't. Nursing a sore right calf muscle and lacking a solid week of practice, Aikman looked in Super Bowl form Sunday as he threw two touchdown passes to lead the Dallas Cowboys to a 34-24 victory over the visiting Green Bay Packers. The Cowboys earned their sixth consecutive victory over the Packers, who boasted the NFL's top-rated defense and were off to their best start since 1982. Aikman said he was extremely doubtful for the game but a week of constant ice wraps, massages and electrical stimulus treatments, along with Green Bay secondary lapses, proved a perfect remedy. He hit 24 of 31 passes for 316 yards, his ninth NFL passing day of 300 yards or more and fourth against the Packers. Aikman was hurt in the first period of a 27-23 loss to Washington last Sunday and missed the rest of the game. He didn't wander far from the pocket against the Packers and was sacked only once. Green Bay rallied from a 21-point deficit behind Brett Favre, who ran 4 and 21 yards for touchdowns and hit TE Mark Chmura with an 11-yard scoring pass. Emmitt Smith rushed for over 100 yards for the fourth time this season and scored on runs of 1 and 16 yards.

October 15 : Green Bay Packers (4-2) 30, Detroit Lions (2-4) 21
(GREEN BAY) - The Green Bay Packers didn't have to hold Barry Sanders to negative yardage this time. They buried the Detroit Lions too deep for it to matter. Brett Favre threw for 342 yards, Edgar Bennett gained 148 yards from scrimmage and Chris Jacke kicked three field goals as the Packers built a 20-0 halftime lead and won 30-21 Sunday. The Packers used tight coverage to befuddle Lions quarterback Scott Mitchell, and George Teague's interception ended Detroit's last gasp with 1:11 left. The Lions pulled to 27-21 early in the final period on Herman Moore's leaping 8-yard touchdown catch on fourth down, his second of the day. But the Packers, behind Charles Jordan's career-longest 35-yard catch to the Lions' 36, responded with Jacke's third field goal, from 20 yards with 7:58 left. Sanders finished with 18 carries for 124 yards, but had no touchdowns in his first trip to Lambeau Field since his forgettable performance in the playoffs last New Year's Eve. On that day, Sanders, fresh off the fourth-best rushing season in NFL history, was held to minus-1 yard on 13 carries in his worst day as a pro as the Lions lost 16-12. Bennett, who signed a three-year, $3.9 million contract on Thursday, gamed 77 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries and added four catches for 71 yards, all in the first half. Favre, 7-2 against Detroit, completed 23 of 34 passes for two touchdowns. He was 15-for-19 for 215 yards and a TD in the first half alone. Mitchell was just 4-for-14 for 25 yards in the first half and finished 17-for-41 for 205 yards and three TDs.

October 22 : Green Bay Packers (5-2) 38, Minnesota Vikings (3-4) 21
(GREEN BAY) - Now that the Green Bay Packers are good enough for TE Keith Jackson, the question is: Aren't they just fine without him? Brett Favre tied a career best with four touchdown passes and fill-in TE Mark Chmura caught five passes for a career-high 101 yards and a touchdown in Green Bay's 38-21 victory over the visiting Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. With a bundled up Jackson looking on, along with a record crowd of 60,332 at Lambeau Field, Favre hit 22 of 43 passes for 295 yards in leading the Packers into a first-place tie with Chicago in the NFC Central. Jackson, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, ended his 91-day "retirement" Friday, agreeing to report under terms of the final year of a four-year, $6 million contract he signed with the Miami Dolphins in 1992. The Packers traded for Jackson in March, figuring he could be the offensive threat to replace Sterling Sharpe, who was released following spinal surgery. But Jackson didn't report until last week. With the Packers off to their best start since 1978, he said he longed to be part of a winner. But he said he wouldn't have shown up had the Packers started poorly. Chmura's 22-yard diving grab set up Favre's 5-yard TD toss to Dorsey Levens to break a 14-14 tie.

October 29 : Detroit Lions (3-5) 24, Green Bay Packers (5-3) 16
(DETROIT) - Scott Mitchell, shaking off a sore wrist, tossed three touchdown passes to Herman Moore and Detroit's defense came up with three interceptions and a fumble as the Lions defeated the visiting Packers 24-16 Sunday. The Packers, who have lost nine straight on artificial turf, appeared to be driving for a touchdown late in the game. But a hit by Tracy Scroggins caused Brett Favre to give up the first fumble by the Packers' offense this season. Chris Spielman recovered and the Lions, avenging a 30-21 loss at Green Bay two weeks ago, ran out the clock, halting a two-game losing streak.

November 5 : Minnesota Vikings (4-5) 27, Green Bay Packers (5-4) 24
(MINNESOTA) - The Green Bay Packers lost two quarterbacks, the best defensive end in NFL history and, finally, another important road game Sunday. In a game that saw Brett Favre and Reggie White leave with injuries, the Packers and Minnesota Vikings combined for four turnovers in the final five minutes before Fuad Reveiz's 39-yard field goal as time expired gave the host Vikings a wild 27-24 victory. The Vikings had their second-highest offensive output of the season as they snapped a three-game losing streak. Warren Moon had three touchdown passes, completing 21 of 39 passes for 237 yards to reach 40,000 career yards faster than any quarterback in NFL history except Dan Marino. After LB Jeff Brady intercepted No. 3 quarterback T.J. Rubley with 50 seconds left, Moon had completions of 23 and 22 yards to Jake Reed to set up Reveiz's winning kick. The Packers, who had six turnovers, lost their second straight road game and fell to 10-19 on the road in the three years since Mike Holmgren became their coach. The Packers also lost backup Ty Detmer to a sprained
thumb, and their 10th straight on artificial turf. Favre started his 54th consecutive game Sunday, the longest
active streak in the NFL. But he went out late in the second quarter with an injured left ankle after guard Aaron Taylor fell on him. White, whose 153 1/2 sacks are more than any player in NFL history, went out with a sprained right knee with 7:40 left in the fourth quarter. Rubley tossed his costly interception following an audible and was released shortly after the game.

November 12 : Green Bay Packers (6-4) 35, Chicago Bears (6-4) 28
(GREEN BAY) - Brett Favre's left ankle was terribly sore Sunday. His right arm never felt better. Favre tied a team record with a career-best five touchdown passes as the Green Bay Packers won a 35-28 shootout with Chicago to move into a tie for the NFC Central lead with the Bears. Favre, his severely sprained ankle heavily wrapped, extended his NFL-leading streak to 55 consecutive starts, completing 25 of 33 passes for 336 yards and no interceptions. He hit Edgar Bennett for scores of 17 and 16 yards on screen passes, the second coming with 9:17 left to break a 28-28 tie. Favre also had TDs of 29 and 44 yards to Robert Brooks and a 1-yard toss to Dorsey Levens. Brooks caught six passes for 138 yards. Reggie White also made a remarkable comeback from injury. He stretched a right knee ligament last week at Minnesota and on Sunday didn't start for just the second time m his 11-year NFL career. But he came in on the second series and played most of the game, sharing a sack, tipping a pass and inspiring a defense that held Erik Kramer out of the end zone in a desperation drive that stalled at the Packers' 14 as time expired.

November 19: Green Bay Packers (7-4) 31, Cleveland Browns (4-7) 20
(CLEVELAND) -The way the Browns are playing, Baltimore may not want them anymore. The Browns lost Sunday for the third straight time since the news broke that they're leaving town, falling to the Green Bay Packers 31-20 as Brett Favre passed for three touchdowns and ran for another. Favre, who threw five touchdown passes in a victory over Chicago last week, was impeccable again, completing 23 of 29 for 210 yards. He gave Green Bay a 21-3 halftime lead with short scoring passes to Dorsey Levens, Mark Chmura and Anthony Morgan, then interrupted the Browns' attempt at a fourth-quarter comeback by scrambling 4 yards for a touchdown. Cleveland got a lift in the second half when Vinny Testaverde, who was benched a month ago, replaced ineffective rookie Eric Zeier and threw two touchdown passes to Michael Jackson.

November 26 : Green Bay Packers (8-4) 35, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-6) 13
(GREEN BAY) - Brett Favre kept Tampa Bay winless in wintry climes Sunday while reinforcing his reputation as the NFL's ultimate cold weather quarterback. Favre threw three touchdowns, two of them to Robert Brooks, and guided Green Bay on five TD drives as the Packers beat the Buccaneers 35-13 in the most pivotal game ever between the division rivals Sunday. The teams had never before met when both had winning records. A Tampa Bay victory would have put the Buccaneers in a tie for the NFC Central lead this late in the season for the first time since 1980. But Errict Rhett, the NFC's third leading rusher, was held to minus 1 yard on 13 carries and the Bucs lost for the fourth time in five games. Tampa's Trent Dilfer was held without a touchdown pass for the eighth straight game. Favre, the NFL's leader with 28 touchdown tosses, completed 16 of 24 passes for 267 yards He improved to 11-0 in games where temperatures are near or below freezing. Sunday's temperature was 34 degrees following a three inch overnight snowfall.

December 3 : Green Bay Packers (9-4) 24, Cincinnati Bengals (5-8) 10
(GREEN BAY) - Brett Favre isn't bashful when it comes to discussing his importance to the Green Bay Packers. "When I play bad, more than likely we'll lose. It's fact. When I play well, more than likely we'll win or we have a chance to win," Favre said after throwing three touchdown passes in the Packers' 24-10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Favre retreated a bit in his MVP declarations during the week, but his performance offered some arguments for it. Earlier in the week, Favre suggested he was more valuable to the Packers than Troy Aikman or Steve Young were to their teams. "Sure, I'm a confident guy and I expect to win and play well," said Favre, now 12-0 in cold-weather games in his four-year career and 16-1 in his last 17 starts at Lambeau Field. Favre completed 31 of 43 passes for 339 yards, his fifth 300-yard game this year and 10th of his career. He has thrown 14 touchdowns and just 1 interception while winning four games since spraining his left ankle Nov. 5 at Minnesota. Favre's outing put the Packers alone in first place in the NFC Central in December for the first time since 1972, the last time they won the division. The only blemish for Green Bay was Reggie White's left hamstring strain with 6:43 left. He was helped off the field. But White, who sprained his left knee a month ago and didn't miss any games, was again the last to leave Lambeau, limping off while twirling his baseball cap in tribute to fans who shouted "Reg-gie! Reggie!" as teammates gathered around him while he was down. The NFL career sacks leader had 1 1/2 sacks, giving him 12 1/2 this year and 157 1/2 for his career. Jeff Blake became his 59th victim. Favre drove Green Bay to TDs on three of four possessions after the Bengals went ahead 10-3 with a minute left in the first half. Favre hit Mark Ingram between three defenders for the tying score six seconds before halftime. Then he became the third-fastest quarterback in NFL history to reach 100 career TD passes, hitting Edgar Bennett for a 14-yard score and a 17-10 lead with 5:48 left in the third quarter.

December 10 : Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-7) 13, Green Bay Packers (9-5) (OT)
(TAMPA BAY) - Michael Husted kicked a winning 47-yard field into a stiff wind, and the host Tampa Bay Buccaneers are alive for a playoff spot. Husted delivered his third winning kick of the year Sunday night, converting with 11:14 remaining in overtime and sending the Buccaneers past the Green Bay Packers 13-10. His kick curled just inside the right upright, giving Tampa Bay a victory and assuring the end of the club's streak of 12 consecutive seasons with double-digit losses. Trent Dilfer moved the Bucs into scoring position with completions of 23 yards to Horace Copeland and 7 yards to Jerry Ellison. Husted kicked a 38-yarder to tie the game with 4:48 remaining in regulation. The Bucs hadn't won more than six games in a season since 1981, the last time the NFL's losingest franchise of the past two decades finished with a winning record. The victory stopped Green Bay from clinching a playoff berth.

December 16 : Green Bay Packers (10-5) 34, New Orleans Saints (6-9) 23
(NEW ORLEANS) - Brett Favre threw for 308 yards and four touchdowns Saturday and the Green Bay Packers, bouyed by the return of Reggie White, qualified for the NFL playoffs for a third straight year with a 34 23 victory over the New Orleans Saints. The victory also positioned the Packers to clinch their first NFC Central championship since 1972. White, the NFL's career leader with 157 sacks, was expected to miss the rest of the year with an injured left hamstring, but he entered the game on the Packers' third defensive play. He was credited with one tackle in the game. On Wednesday, the Packers said White would miss the final two games and the playoffs because of surgery scheduled for next week. But the following day, White returned to practice and showed he didn't need the surgery after all. He injured the hamstring December 3 against Cincinnati and missed last Sunday's game at Tampa Bay. It was the first game he missed because of injury in his 11-year NFL career. Favre, who completed the first six passes he threw, advanced his claim for the MVP award by completing 12 of 18 passes for 203 yards and four touchdowns in the first half. It was the second time this season Favre, who grew up about 60 miles from New Orleans and had a large group of fans on hand passed for four touchdowns in a game. He completed 21 of 30 passes on the day. Four minutes into the game, Favre hit Anthony Morgan with a 19-yard touchdown and added another first quarter score on a 17-yard pass to Robert Brooks. Six seconds into the second quarter, he found Brooks open again for a 40 yard touchdown capping a 58 yard drive. Favre finished the first half with a 3-play scoring drive and an 11-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Freeman. his first NFL touchdown. The loss guaranteed the Saints a second straight losing season and third non-winning year. In the first half, Favre became the third quarterback in Packers history to throw for 4,000 yards in a season. Lynn Dickey had 4,458 in 1983 and Don Majkowski 4,318 in 1989. Edgar Bennett entered the team's record books himself in the fourth quarter as he became the fifth Green Bay Packer to crack the 1,000-yard rushing mark in a season.

December 24 : Green Bay Packers (11-5) 24, Pittsburgh Steelers (11-5) 19
(GREEN BAY) - Yancey Thigpen's drop didn't matter much to the Steelers, but it meant the world to the Packers. With their first Central crown in 23 years slipping away Sunday, Pittsburgh's wide-open receiver let the game-winning touchdown slip through his hands, allowing the Packers to escape. "Merry Christmas, Green Bay," Thigpen said after his misadventure gave the Packers their first outright Central crown since 1972. "That's their Christmas present. Santa Claus came a day early." The Steelers saw their longest winning streak in 18 seasons come to a tough end with quarterback Neil O'Donnell flat on his back in defeat, Thigpen on his knees in the end zone and a record crowd of 60,649 fans stomping in the stands after braving zero-degree wind chills. "I didn't watch it," said Brett Favre, who was spitting up blood in the third period after taking a hard hit to the back at the goal line from Greg Lloyd and two other Steelers. Favre, who finished 23-for-32 for 301 yards and two touchdowns, said he didn't think he'd miss Sunday's game because he was banged up. "I just know that something's bleeding. I'm not a doctor but I know that much," Favre said.

The Packers shut down Atlanta's running game. Craig Heyward was limited to 21 yards on nine carries. Jeff George completed 30 of 54 passes for 366 yards and two touchdowns. Two of his completions netted 120 yards and accounted for all 10 of the Falcons' first-half points. 1995 IN REVIEW: The Green Bay Packers were division champions for the first time since 1972, thanks in part to Pittsburgh WR Yancey Thigpen. With the Steelers trailing 25-21 with six seconds left in the final game of the season, Pittsburgh QB Neil O'Donnell tossed a fourth down pass to Thigpen in the end zone. All alone in the left corner of the end zone, Thigpen bobbled the ball then hit it with his knee and dropped it. During the course of the game, Packer QB Brett Favre was sacked by SS Myron Bell and suffered an injured chest. He also missed two plays in the fourth quarter after getting hit by LB Kevin Greene. Despite the injuries, Favre passed for 301 yards and two touchdowns. During the season, Favre tore ligaments in his ankle, but would lead the NFL with 38 touchdown passes and was named NFL MVP. After losing Sterling Sharpe, the Packers offered a contract to Andre Rison that was the largest for a wide receiver in the league, but he decided to sign with Cleveland. Green Bay acquired TE Keith Jackson, but he held out until mid-October. Mark Ingram was acquired from Miami. With all those moves, it turned out the best replacement was already on the roster. WR Robert Brooks caught 102 passes for a team-record 1,497 yards. Edgar Bennett became the first Packer running back to run for more than 1,000 yards (1,067) since Terdell Middleton in 1978. When all was said and done, Green Bay had won 11 games in a season for the first time since 1966, and made it to the NFL Championship Game. While they would fall short to the Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay had turned the corner and would be a legitimate Super Bowl contender when the 1996 season began.

(MADISON) - Ty Detmer atoned for a pair of fumbles with two touchdown passes, and Charles Jordan returned a kickoff 96 yards for a score as Green Bay downed New Orleans. Detmer, who tied the game at 17 with a 7-yard pass to rookie Antonio Freeman in the third quarter, hooked up with Mike Bartrum on a 17-yard scoring pass four seconds into the fourth quarter. Detmer, Brett Favre's new backup, completed 7-of-9 passes for 82 yards with no interceptions. Favre was ineffective in one quarter, completing just 2-of-8. Jim Everett completed 9-of-11 passes for 79 yards for the Saints.

PRE-SEASON - August 13: Green Bay (2-0) 36, Pittsburgh 13
(PITTSBURGH) - Brett Favre and Kevin Greene led a long injury list as the Packers beat the fumble-fingered Steelers on Sunday in an exhibition game played in 93-degree heat and uncomfortable humidity. With both teams laboring in a late-summer game moved to an afternoon start to accommodate NBC-TV, Green Bay turned five Pittsburgh turnovers, three in a span of 4:36, and a safety into all but three of its points. But the Packers lost Favre, their two-time Pro Bowl quarterback, to a concussion when he was leveled by a second-quarter blindside hit by All-Pro linebacker Greg Lloyd. Four other Packers left with various injuries, and Greene, the 1994 NFL sacks leader, broke his left hand in the first half.

guiding the Colts Saturday. Mike Cofer, who missed a 40-yard field goal with 13 seconds left in regulation, hit a 20-yarder 3:30 into overtime. Cofer's fourth field goal atoned for two earlier misses and came after Green Bay backup quarterback Ty Detmer fumbled at his 33 and Derwin Gray recovered his second fumble of the day. Harbaugh, who started nine games for the Colts last year but was relegated to backup when Indianapolis lured Erickson from Tampa Bay, hit Lamont Warren for 30 yards to the 3 setting up Cofer's game winner. Harbaugh was 15-of-24 for 187 yards and ran four times for 30 more. But before his big plays against reserves, Green Bay's offensive and defensive units made their biggest plays in the final two minutes of the first half. Brett Favre, who was 13-of-20 for 159 yards, gave Green Bay a 17-6 lead with a pair of TD throws in the final 1:47 of the first half. Behind Erickson, the Colts had three incompletions, minus -8 yards and a punt in a pair of two-minute drills before halftime. Favre's 25-yard touchdown to Terry Mickens gave Green Bay a 10-6 lead. With 18 injured players already on the sideline, the Packers lost linebacker James Willis with a fractured right fibula.

Reggie Brooks ran it in from the 4 with 26 seconds left in the first half, giving Washington a 17-14 lead.

BRETT FAVRE'S BACKUPS
T.J. Rubley's decision to audible in a November 1995 game against the Vikings will go down in team lore, as long as Packer fans look for plays to depress them. Rubley was one of 11 backups during Favre's tenure:
* DON MAJKOWSKI (1992) - Majkowski never took another snap in the 1992 season after going down in Week Three and turning the QB job over to Favre. He would go on to play with Detroit and Indianapolis after being cut in 1993.
* TY DETMER (1992-95) - Detmer never played in 1992 and appeared in two games in mopup roles in 1993. He once again stood on the sidelines during the entire 1994 season. In 1995, he came into the infamous Rubley game when Farve went down, completing 8-of-15 passes before being injured himself. He signed a free agent deal with Philadelphia in 1995, where he played two season. After that, he bounced around - San Francisco (1998), Cleveland (1999-2000), Detroit (2001-2003), Atlanta (2004-2005)
* MARK BRUNELL (1993-94) - Brunell appeared in two games in 1994, one in relief of Favre. He was traded to Jacksonville, where he threw for 25698 yards and 144 touchdowns in nine season. He also spent three years in Washington (2004-2006), where he threw for 6033 yards and 38 touchdowns. New Orleans signed him in 2008 in an emergency backup role.
* T.J. RUBLEY (1995) - He came to Green Bay from the Rams, where he started 7 games in 1993. After the Packers and Broncos (1996) released him, he found success with the Rhein Fire of the WLAF and played briefly with Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL where he found less success.
* BOB GAGLIANO (1995) - Never appeared in a game. He was drafted into the by the Kansas City Chiefs in 1981, and ended up playing for six NFL teams, including the Detroit Lions, where he was first pegged with the nickname "The Goose". His best season came in 1990, when he threw for 1,190 yards and twn touchdowns for the Lions. He also played for the USFL’s Denver Gold.
* DOUG PEDERSON (1995-98, 2001-04) - He was the starting quarterback when Don Shula won for the 325th time, an NFL record, in 1993.  Pederson would not throw another pass in the NFL until 1998, when he appeared in 12 games for the Packers. He moved to Philadelphia as a free agent, where he threw for 1,276 yards and 7 touchdowns. Pederson started nine games for the 1999 Eagles, while they waited for Donovan McNabb to develop. In 2000, Cleveland signed Pederson to start until Tim Couch was ready to take over. In 11 games (eight starts), he threw for 1,047 yards and 2 touchdowns, but 8 interceptions. Pederson returned to Green Bay in 2001, and served as the top backup to Favre until he retired after the 2004 season. In 66 games with the Packers, he threw 77 passes and completed 46, with 3 touchdowns and two interceptions.
* JIM MCMAHON (1995-96) - He was best known for wearing his Chicago Bears #9 jersey, when the Packers visited the White House in 1997. He said it was that the Bears never got to go to the White House after they won Super Bowl XX, due to the event being canceled due to the Shuttle Challenger disaster.
