August 6: Green Bay (1-0) 14, Los Angeles Rams 6
(MADISON) - Two series and little more than one quarter was enough time for Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre to sway his many skeptics. Favre, whose tendency to go for the big play last season resulted in more interceptions (24) than touchdowns (19), was almost perfect in Green Bay's victory over the Rams. The Packer QB completed five of six passes for 42 yards and scrambling three times for 15 yards. Ty Detmer hit Robert Brooks with a 2-yard touchdown with 7:38 left in the 3rd quarter.

August 13: Miami 31, Green Bay (1-1) 24
(GREEN BAY) - Irving Spikes, who signed with Miami as a free agent after being ignored on draft day, rushed for a touchdown and set up two others with kickoff returns of 71 and 51 yards as the Dolphins beat Green Bay in Milwaukee. The teams combined for 41 second half points. Spikes, who had the fourth-best rushing average in the nation (149.5) last year at Northeast Louisiana, provided Miami with the winning margin when he scored from 3 yards out to give the Dolphins'a 31-17 lead with 13:59 left. Dan Marino, making his second appearance since rupturing his Achilles tendon Oct. 10. completed six of seven passes for 60 yards.

August 19: Green Bay (2-1) 13, New Orleans 10
(NEW ORLEANS) - In a game reminiscent of last season, Chris Jacke outkicked Morten Andersen to give his team a preseason victory. Jacke's two fourth-quarter field goals, including the game-winning 36-yarder with 3:13 remaining, made up for Andersen's only kick in the third quarter as the Packers improved to 2-1. Jim Everett,
making his first start as a Saint, gave New Orleans a 7-0 lead seven plays into the game. Everett passed for 56 yards in the 63-yard drive before Derek Brown plunged in for a 1-yard touchdown. Everett completed 10 of 16 passes for 102 yards, threw one interception and was sacked once in the first half. Brett Favre completed eight of 12 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown in one half for the Packers, and was also sacked once. He sprained an ankle on the play and left the game, but did not appear to be seriously hurt. Green Bay, which came into the game looking to improve its running game after rushing for just 199 yards in its first two preseason contests, did not find the key against the Saints. Bennett had just 12 yards on five carries. Reggie Cobb, the free agent acquisition touted as the answer to the Packers' rushing problems, had 10 yards on three carries, giving him 43 yards on 18 carries in three games.

August 26: Green Bay (3-1) 24, New England 20
(GREEN BAY) - Mike Prior returned a fumbled punt 10 yards for a touchdown and Doug Evans' interception led to a touchdown drive for the Packers. Green Bay capitalized on turnovers to overcome 10 penalties. It is the Packers' second winning preseason in 13 years and the Patriots' first exhibition loss in their last eight outings since Bill Parcells took over as coach prior to the 1993 season. A final turnover, an interception by ex-Patriot Tim Hauck with 2:58 to play, sealed New England's fate. The Patriots, who finished with more total yards than the Packers, got on the board on the third play from scrimmage. LB Vincent Brown stepped in front of running back Reggie Cobb, made the interception and returned it 19 yards.

September 4 : Green Bay Packers (1-0) 16, Minnesota Vikings (0-1) 10
(GREEN BAY ) - Sterling Sharpe got the loot and the Packers got their money's worth Sunday from a defense led by George Teague. Sharpe caught a 14-yard touchdown one day after threatening to sit out the season in a contract dispute, and Teague intercepted two of Warren Moon's passes in Green Bay's victory. Sharpe, who staged one of the shortest walkouts in NFL history on the eve of the season opener, agreed to adjustments in his contract late Saturday after he skipped practice, missed the team photo and threatened to sit out the whole season. The NFL's receptions leader the past two years, Sharpe reportedly was promised a $7 million bonus before next season. Moon, making his debut for Minnesota, completed 20 of 37 passes for 166 yards with three interceptions and no touchdowns. He was sacked three times.

September 11 : Miami Dolphins (2-0) 24, Green Bay Packers (1-1) 16
(MILWAUKEE) - Rookie Irving Spikes has already made a career out of beating the Packers. Spikes, a free agent who made Miami's roster after an exceptional preseason performance against Green Bay, set up two first-half touchdowns that triggered the Dolphins' victory over the Packers. Spikes made the Dolphins roster after he burned the Packers with three kickoff returns for 146 yards and ran for the winning touchdown in an exhibition victory Aug. 13. But Spikes ran just once for five yards in Miami's season-opening 39-35 victory over New England.  Signed by Miami after being ignored on draft day, Spikes ran 13 times for 70 yards before leaving early in the fourth quarter with a twisted right knee. After punting on their first possession, the Dolphins scored on their next four drives, including a pair of touchdown passes by Dan Marino, in boosting their regular season record against the Packers to 8-0. Marino has beaten Green Bay all five times he's faced them, but he said the job this time was easier with the 5-foot-8, 215-pound Spikes. With Miami ahead 3-0 late in the first half, Spikes, who had the fourth-best rushing average in the nation (149.5) last year at Northeast Louisiana, ran on three straight plays for 41 yards, setting up Marino's 3-yard touchdown strike to Keith Jackson. Marino, who shredded the Patriots for 473 yards and five touchdowns last week in his first regular season appearance since undergoing surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon, completed 17 of 25 passes for 177 yards. He executed a perfect play-action fake on fourth-and-1, hitting Jackson all alone on the left side of the end zone, capping a 12-play, 86-yard drive that made it 10-0 with 5:43 left in the half. The Dolphins weren't done. DE Ed Cross recovered Brett Favre's fumble at Miami's 47 on the next series, and Spikes again put the Dolphins in position for another Marino touchdown pass. On that drive, Spikes ran five times for 35 yards, and Terry Kirby dived for a first down on fourth-and-1 at the Packers' 6. On second-and-goal, Marino hit Keith Byars wide open in the left flat for the score with 27 seconds left before halftime. After Kirby burst up the middle for a 6-yard touchdown run midway through the third period making it 24-0, the Packers drove to Miami's 10-yard line. But sixth-year NT Craig Veasey got his first career interception. Favre finally put Green Bay into the end zone late in the fourth quarter. He hit tight end Ed West for a 2-yard TD pass with 6:30 left in the game, but the conversion pass failed, and he added a 9-yard TD to Sterling Sharpe with 1:22 remaining. Favre hit West for the 2-pointer, making it 24-14.

(PHILADELPHIA) - Reggie White returned to Philadelphia, where he played eight seasons, to see the Eagles defense register six sacks, two interceptions and a forced fumble. The Eagles scored on two 26-yard field goals from Eddie Murray and a l-yard run by Randall Cunningham. His former team limited White to three tackles by double- and triple-teaming him. Green Bay took a 7-0 lead on Brett Favre's 37-yard TD pass to Reggie Cobb.

(GREEN BAY) - Not all the ex-Packers had a good time at Green Bay's annual homecoming game. Brett Favre was 30-of-39 for 306 yards and three TDs and Chris Jacke kicked three field goals as Green Bay routed Tampa Bay 30-3 Sunday, spoiling the return of ex-Packers Jackie Harris, Vince Workman and Charles Wilson. Sixty former Green Bay players, including four Hall of Famers and six who played on the 1944 championship team, were at Lambeau Field for the reunion. They got to see the Packers, who had scored just 37 points all season, finally find their offensive touch. Jacke's second field goal, a 20-yarder with 16 seconds left in the half, broke the team record held by Chester Marcol, who kicked 120 field goals over an eight-year career. Marcol was at the game.

October 2 : New England Patriots (3-2) 17, Green Bay Packers (2-3) 16
(NEW ENGLAND) - Matt Bahr's 33-yard field goal with four seconds left fluttered awkwardly, barely clearing the crossbar. It ended two minutes of kicking comedy Sunday, and gave the Patriots a 17-16 victory over Green Bay. The Packers made it possible by bumbling an extra-point attempt and botching the ensuing kickoff. The kick by the 38-year-old Bahr decided a duel between young quarterbacks Drew Bledsoe and Brett Favre. Bahr had missed his previous two attempts after making all 12 in his career with New England. But he got the chance to be the hero because Green Bay could not kick any better. Just 1:10 earlier, the Packers blew an extra-point try that Chris Jacke, who had made 127 in a row, never got to kick. Craig Hentrich had trouble handling Mark Chmura's low snap and was tackled. Then, Jacke's kickoff went out of bounds, giving New England the ball on its own 40. Bledsoe drove the Patriots into position for Bahr's winner. That enabled the Patriots to go on to their third straight win in typical fashion. Fourteen of their last 15 games have been decided by six or fewer points. Bahr missed from 47 and 33 yards earlier. He got another chance after the Patriots fell behind 16-14 on Reggie Cobb's 1-yard run with 1:14 left. Bledsoe completed 29-of-53 passes for 334 yards and two scoring passes to Vincent Brisby against the Packers, who began the game with the NFL's second best defense. On the Patriots' final drive, Bledsoe sneaked 3 yards on a third-and-1 to the Green Bay 32. Then he hit Ray Crittenden for a 10-yard gain to the 15 on a third-and-3. After two incompletions, Bahr connected. The kick ruined a strong performance by Favre. He completed 25-of-47 passes for 295 yards and an 11-yard touchdown to Sterling Sharpe that gave the Packers a 10-0 halftime lead. Sharpe set a Packers record with 533 career catches, passing James Lofton's 530. Sharpe had nine receptions for 132 yards and extended his streak to 92 games with at least one catch. Favre threw two interceptions and was sacked twice in the second half.

October 9 : Green Bay Packers (3-3) 24, Los Angeles Rams (2-4) 17
(GREEN BAY) - If this was Reggie White vs. Jerome Bettis, score one for the defense. Led by White, Green Bay's defense held Bettis to 65 yards rushing on 22 carries and provided great field position for the offense in a come-from-behind victory over Los Angeles. Bettis entered the game as the NFL's second-leading rusher after four consecutive 100-yard games. Robert Brooks returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown, and the Packers scored 21 straight points in the second half to overcome a 17-3 halftime deficit White, the all-time NFL leader with 142 sacks in 143 career games, had 2 sacks Sunday, including one that forced a Chris Miller fumble behind his own 40-yard line with four seconds remaining. Sean Jones recovered to seal the victory.

October 20 : Minnesota Vikings (5-2) 13, Green Bay Packers (3-4) 10 (OT)
(MINNESOTA) - Just when it looked like Green Bay had frustrated Warren Moon once again, Moon put Minnesota back in control of the NFC Central. Hounded by the Packers' relentless pass rush most of the night, Moon led the Vikings to a tying field goal with 17 seconds left in regulation and then to Fuad Reveiz's winning 27-yard kick 4:26 into overtime. Moon's lifted the Vikings into first place in the Central, a half-game ahead of Chicago, which plays Detroit on Sunday. The comeback stunned the Packers, who were within five minutes of climbing back into the divisional race despite losing quarterback Brett Favre in the first quarter with a hip injury. Green Bay, which beat Minnesota 16-10 in the season- opener, harassed Moon for 3 1/2 quarters, sacking him four times and intercepting him twice while backup quarterback Mark Brunell led the Packers to a 10-7 half time lead that almost stood up. But after taking over at his own 34 with 5:32 to play in the fourth quarter, Moon completed 7 of 10 passes for 58 yards to set up Reveiz's tying 29-yard kick. The Packers were outstanding on defense all night, and needed another stand to avoid losing in regulation after Minnesota had a second-and-goal on its 4, but Bryce Paup threw Amp Lee for a 7-yard loss and Moon threw incomplete into the corner of the end zone on third down. It was the fifth time in the last six meetings that the game was decided by six points or fewer.

October 31 : Green Bay Packers (4-4) 33, Chicago Bears (4-4) 6
(CHICAGO) -The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears spent a scoreless first quarter Monday night fighting a driving wind and rain as much as each other. Then Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre went to work, engineering two scoring drives and scoring a touchdown of his own on a run, to lead the Packets to a 14-0 second quarter lead. Rain whipped over the pillars of Soldier Field and the wind from the north was gusting at 36 mph. It rocked both goal posts and made it difficult for the grounds crew to get the tarp off the field before the game on a 44 degree night. There were hundreds of empty seats for the Halloween night game as fans were scared away by the weather. The wind made it tough for passers and punters headed into the wind. Brett Favre's first two passes for the Packers floated helplessly in the air as did four straight 27-yard punts by Craig Hentrich. The Bears, behind Lewis Tillman's 13-yard run, moved to the Green Bay 26 but Chicago's Raymont Harris was stopped short on a fourth-and 1. Later in the quarter, Chicago's Chris Gardocki, aided by the gusts, knocked a 57-yard punt out of bounds on the Green Bay 7 with 1:12 left. Chicago moved to the Green Bay 30, but Bryce Paup intercepted Erik Kramer's pass and returned 30 yards before Kramer tackled him on the Chicago 45 on the next to last play of the period. That gave the Packers the wind. The teams donned throwback uniforms. The Bears' colors reflected their 1925-26 season and the Packers' represented their 1937 season.

November 6 : Green Bay Packers (5-4) 38, Detroit Lions (4-5) 30
(MILWAUKEE) - The Green Bay Packers' top-rated defense stuffed Barry Sanders, knocked out Scott Mitchell and finally held off the visiting Detroit Lions at Milwaukee. The Packers took a 24-point lead into the fourth quarter Sunday, yet wound up winning only 38-30 when Dave Krieg's fourthdown pass was broken up in the end zone with 42 seconds left. Krieg, taking over after Mitchell broke a bone in his right hand in the second quarter, led the Lions on late touchdown drives of 72 and 58 yards, both of them capped by two-point conversions. The Lions said Mitchell would be out indefinitely. He finished 5-for-15 for 63 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. Krieg drove the Lions to the Green Bay 15 with less than a minute left, but Sean Jones had a sack for a 5-yard loss on third down. Krieg's desperation pass, intended for Aubrey Matthews, was stopped by CB Doug Evans. Krieg completed 23 of 33 passes for 274 yards and three touchdowns. Sanders, who entered the game with 1,035 rushing yards, more than 24 NFL teams, was held to 47 yards on 15 carries. Mitchell, who signed a three-year, $11.1 million free agent contract in the offseason, was hit hard by Reggie White midway through the second period and left the game after the next play, an incompletion in which he also was knocked to the ground. The Packers forced five turnovers, four of them in the first half. Robert Brooks caught his first two touchdowns as Green Bay produced its most points since a 38-10 victory
over Detroit on Dec. 6, 1992. Green Bay scored its first 17 points off three turnovers on its way to a seemingly safe 31-7 halftime lead.

November 13 : Green Bay Packers (6-4) 17, New York Jets (5-5) 10
(GREEN BAY) - The Jets finally hurt themselves with their bruising defense as Green Bay exploited the absence of injured safety Ronnie Lott. Brett Favre picked on Lott's backup, Pat Terrell, for two touchdowns as the host Packers defeated New York, 17-10, extending Green Bay's winning streak at Lamtaeau Field to eight games. Lott, who leads the Jets with 79 tackles, didn't play because of a pinched nerve in his shoulder suffered in making a tackle in last week's 22-17 victory over Buffalo. That snapped his string of 57 straight starts dating back to Dec. 3,1990. The Packers won their third straight game as they prepare for a three-game road swing that includes visits to four-time defending AFC champion Buffalo and two-time defending Super Bowl champion Dallas. Favre finished 20 of 28 for 183 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

November 20 : Buffalo Bills (6-5) 29, Green Bay Packers (6-5) 20
(BUFFALO) - They fight like children on the sidelines and bicker across the radio dial. On the field, though, Jim Kelly and Andre Reed are always together. Kelly and Reed connected for two touchdowns and 191 yards on Sunday to beat Green Bay and revive the Bills' playoff hopes. Buffalo snapped a two-game losing streak and sent the Packers to their first loss in four games. Reed had a team record 15 catches and a career best in yardage. Kelly's total of 365 yards was his best in 2 1/2 years and the fourth-best of his career. Together, they have connected for 56 TDs, tied for third-best in NFL history and more than any other active tandem. Steve Young and Jerry Rice of the 49ers had 54 going into their Sunday night game against the Raiders. Kelly was seen yelling at Reed on the sideline Monday night during the Bills' 23-10 loss to the Steelers, when Reed admitted missing some audibles because of the crowd noise. Kelly was also upset that Reed failed to see a blitz that led to a sack, fumble and Pittsburgh touchdown. On Reed's Tuesday night radio show, he said he wishes Kelly had approached him in private so they could work it out, saying "don't act like a fool on national TV." But the two said they had put the feud behind them. And on Sunday, they showed they really have. Kelly hit Reed for 15- and 10-yard touchdowns in the first half as the Bills moved out to a 24-0 lead. Brett Favre and Sterling Sharpe connected for two touchdowns and Edgar Bennett caught another as Green Bay made it 27-20, but the Packers failed in three attempts to close the gap further.

November 24 : Dallas Cowboys (10-2) 42, Green Bay Packers (6-6) 31
(DALLAS) - Fairy tales do come true in the NFL. Just ask Jason Garrett. Garrett, the Dallas Cowboys' third-string quarterback a week ago, was plugged in as the starter Thursday and responded with a Troy Aikman-like game, carrying Dallas from a 14-point deficit to a runaway 42-31 victory over the Green Bay Packers. Garrett led Dallas on six consecutive scoring drives, including five straight touchdowns, to open the second half while completing 15-of-25 passes for 311 yards and two scores. He forced the Packers to give up a season-high 436 yards and he led Dallas to a franchise-record 36 points in the second half. Emmitt Smith was a huge help, too, catching six passes for 95 yards and rushing 32 times for 133 yards and two scores. He's the first runner this season to gain more than 100 yards against the Packers. Green Bay had the benefit of four touchdown passes from Brett Favre to Sterling Sharpe and the somewhat surprising return of Reggie White, who badly hurt his left elbow last Sunday and wasn't expected to play. But even with the first two Sharpe scores helping the Packers to a 17-6 halftime lead and White being his usual intimidating self, Green Bay couldn't stop Garrett and the Cowboys. Garrett got the chance to make his second career start because Aikman strained his left knee and second-stringer Rodney Peete bruised his right thumb in last Sunday's game. He wound up joining Steve Beuerlein, Bernie Kosar and Peete as quarterbacks who've replaced Aikman and led Dallas to victories in the last three seasons. All three have been starters elsewhere in the NFL, but none have won championships outside Dallas, further proof that the Cowboys have built one of the NFL's best offensive schemes. Garrett's biggest plays were probably a 21-yard toss to Irvin and a 38-yarder to Alvin Harper that set up Chris Boniol's 37-yard field goal and cut Green Bay's lead to 17-6 as the second quarter ended. Before that series, Garrett was 6-of- 13 for 54 yards and an interception.

December 4 : Detroit Lions (7-6) 34, Green Bay Packers (6-7) 31
(DETROIT) - A record-setting day by Barry Sanders kept the Detroit Lions hopes alive for an NFC wild-card berth and probably sank Green Bay's chances. Sanders rushed 20 times for 188 yards and one touchdown Sunday and the Lions held on for a 34-31 victory over the Packers. A 63-yard run by Sanders set up the go-ahead 1-yard TD dive by Derrick Moore with 9:02 left. Sanders broke his single-season record of 1,548 yards, set in 1991, during the run. The Packers drove to the Lions' 17 late in the fourth period, but Willie Clay came up with Detroit's second interception. The Packers got the ball back with 1:51 remaining, but the Lions defense was up to the task.

December 11 : Green Bay Packers (7-7) 40, Chicago Bears (8-6) 3
(GREEN BAY) - A return to frigid Lambeau Field, a white-hot offense and an ice-cold Steve Walsh were just what the Packers needed to salvage their playoff hopes. The Packers routed the Bears as Brett Favre threw three touchdowns, two of them to Sterling Sharpe, and Green Bay's defense returned to form after a five-game skid. Chris Jacke added four field goals as the Packers won their ninth straight game at Lambeau, where they completed their first undefeated season since 1962. The stunned Bears lost their 14th straight December road game, a streak that dates to Dec. 7, 1987, when they edged the Raiders at the LA Coliseum. The Bears also fell from first place in the NFC Central, a game behind the Vikings, who defeated Buffalo Sunday. Although it was sunny Sunday with no snow, the temperature was 15 degrees at kickoff with a wind chill of 6. The Bears were even colder, managing just a 25-yard field goal by Kevin Butler for an early 3-0 lead before the Packers overwhelmed them. The Packers rushed for a season-high 257 yards, including 106 by fullback Edgar Bennett, who carried 22 times. Favre completed 19 of 31 passes for 250 yards with one interception. Bennett has three career 100-yard rushing games, all against the Bears. Reggie Cobb added 78 yards on 11 carries and rookie LeShon Johnson had six carries for 42 yards. The Packers' beleagured defense, which had surrendered an average of 29 points and 392 yards per game over the last five contests, held Walsh to 13 completions in 26 attempts for 143 yards and an interception.

December 18 : Green Bay Packers (8-7) 21, Atlanta Falcons (6-9) 17
(MILWAUKEE) -The Green Bay Packers bid farewell to Milwaukee after 61 seasons and Brett Favre's fantastic finish kept them from also kissing their playoff hopes goodbye. Favre scrambled for a 9-yard touchdown with 14 seconds left Sunday, giving the Packers a 21-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. The Packers have played a portion of their home schedule in Milwaukee since 1933. But in a revenue-generating move, they decided to play all their home games at Lambeau Field beginning next year. They went out in style. Green Bay FB Edgar Bennett caught eight passes for 101 yards and rushed 13 times for 46 more. When Green Bay coach Mike Holmgren left the field, he climbed a pile of snow near the first-base dugout, pumped his fists into the air and blew kisses to the crowd of 54,885 at County Stadium. "Thank you, Milwaukee!" he hollered over and over. "Thank you." Atlanta, which was eliminated from playoff contention, took its first lead on backup QB Bobby Hebert's 5-yard touchdown toss to Terance Mathis with 5:33 left. His 2-point converstion to Andre Rison made it 17-14. Green Bay got the ball at their 33 with 1:58 remaining and Favre, who completed 29-of-44 pases for 321 yards and two TDs, drove the Packers to the Atlanta 9 with 21 seconds and no time-outs left. With all his receivers covered, Favre scrambled right and appeared to be heading for the sideline so Chris Jacke would get a shot at a  game-tying field goal.

December 24 : Green Bay Packers (9-7) 34, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-10) 19
(TAMPA BAY) - Tampa Bay was trying to avoid another ten-loss season and win their fifth straight. The Packers were trying to make the playoffs. Green Bay rolled up a 433-214 yardage advantage to complete a season sweep. Sterling Sharpe always killed the Bucs when he played against them and 132 yards and two touchdowns was probably less than his usual performance. It was Sharpe's last game as a Packer, as he missed the playoffs and had off-season neck surgery in hopes of returning to the playing field, but chose instead to retire and pursue a career in broadcasting. The victory combined with Chicago's loss to New England assured the Packers of no worse than the second of three wild-card spots. The victory also kept their hopes of winning the Central Division alive, but those were extinguished when Minnesota won on Monday night.

(GREEN BAY) - It was the worst performance of Barry Sanders' six-year NFL career, and even the Green Bay Packers couldn't believe it. Sanders, the NFL's leading rusher this season, earned 13 times for mmus-1 yard Saturday as the Detroit Lions were beaten by the Packers 16-12 in an opening-round NFC playoff game. While Sterling Sharpe's absence impaired the Packers, it was not nearly as damaging as Sanders' missing running game hurt Detroit. With their Pro Bowl receiver out with a career-threatening neck injury, the Packers stopped Sanders, who had gained 1,883 yards this season. Sanders' uncharacteristic performance was the major reason Detroit was knocked out of the playoffs by Green Bay for the second straight season. Overall, Detroit was held to minus 4 yards on the ground, the lowest ever by an NFL team in the playoffs. The previous low was 7 yards rushing by New England against the Bears in Super Bowl XX. Despite Sanders' subpar performance, the Lions had a shot to win at the end when Herman Moore made a leaping grab of Dave Krieg's desperation fourth down pass from the Green Bay 17. But Moore landed just beyond the end zone as George Teague pushed him before his feet could come down inbounds. Green Bay punter Craig Hentnch ran out of the back of the end zone as time expired giving Detroit, which hasn't won a road playoff game since 1957, a meaningless safety. Brett Favre, the second leading passer in the NFL, clearly missed Sharpe, the centerpiece of Green Bay's attack with 94 catches for 1,119 yards and a team record 18 TDs this season. Favre threw 33 touchdowns this season but none Saturday. Favre was 23 for 38 for 262 yards with no interceptions. Robert Brooks, Sharpe's replacement at
(DALLAS) - For the second straight year, Dallas knocked Green Bay out of the playoffs, and this was the worst Packer playoff loss up to this point in the team's history. Troy Aikman completed an incredible 23 of 30 passes (76.7%) for 337 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Jay Novacek, Michael Irvin and Alvin Harper all had more than 100 yards receiving. One of Aikman's touchdowns was a 94-yard strike to Harper that still stands as the longest play from scrimmage in Cowboys' playoff history. Aikman set two more Cowboys playoff records that day - percentage of completions and yards gained in a game. Dallas had 14 plays of ten yards or more. For Green Bay, Brett Favre was 18 of 35 for 211 yards before being pulled for Mark Brunell.

1994 IN REVIEW: After two straight 9-7 seasons and a wildcard berth in 1993, the Packers in 1994 found themselves in danger of slipping back to mediocrity. Hosting Atlanta in the last game ever at County Stadium in Milwaukee, the Packers trailed 21-17 with 21 seconds left and no time outs. QB Brett Favre scrambled to his right and dove into the endzone for the winning touchdown. The following week, Green Bay would clinch a playoff berth with a win over the Buccaneers in the season finale. Favre. who signed a contract extension in the summer, set a Packer record with 32 touchdown passes, while Sterling Sharpe set a team record by catching 18 of them. Sharpe's season started with a holdout, and came to a sudden halt with a career-ending neck injury. Other injuries marred the season. First-round draft pick Aaron Taylor was lost for the season when he tore up a knee in a June mini-camp. The Packer defense was the best in the NFL for the first eight weeks, then fell apart in the second half and ended sixth overall. In their first eight games, opponents averaged 260 yards and 13 points per game. In the final eight games, Green Bay gave up 335 yards and 23 points per game.

flanker, caught 7 passes for 88 yards as Green Bay won its fourth straight and improved to 8- 0 all time at home in the playoffs. Sharpe who caught Favre's game winning 40 yard touchdown with 55 seconds left in last year's playoff victory over the Lions watched from the sideline coaching and cheering his teammates. Favre guided the Packers to a touchdown on their first possession. But then the offense sputtered and the Packers turned to their defense led by White to stop Sanders, who had run for 188 yards against Green Bay in their last meeting. It worked. Rookie running back Dorsey Levens who earned only five times for 15 yards during the season scored his first NFL touchdown with a 3 yard run on fourth and inches for a 7-0 Green Bay lead in the first quarter.

PACKERS IN MILWAUKEE
1994 brought an end to the Packers tenure in Milwaukee, and what an ending it was. Brett Favre scrambled for a 9-yard touchdown (pictured above) with 14 seconds left, giving the Packers a 21-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. They finished with a 106-63-1 record at Milwaukee. County Stadium played host to the final game, but three other venues were also used:
    * BORCHERT FIELD (1933) - The minor league baseball park was located near Burleigh, Chambers and North Eighth streets. The Milwaukee Badgers, which played in the NFL from 1922 to 1926, staged its home games at Borchert Field. The park was also the host to the first Green Bay Packers game held in Milwaukee - a 10-7 loss to the New York Giants on Oct. 1, 1933. It was torn down in 1954, and is now a children's playground.
    * STATE FAIR PARK (1934-51) - Located in West Allis, near West Kearney, Greenfield, South 77th and South 84th streets, on the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds, the Park hosted the 1939 NFL championship game. According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, "The stadium at State Fair Park was dedicated that day and christened "The Dairy Bowl." The New York writers were none too impressed. In fact, with the wind howling outside, they feared for their lives in a hastily constructed wooden press box 100 feet above ground. It "trembled and swayed continuously and it appeared that at any moment the whole thing would crash," Louis Effrat wrote in The New York Times. "One hundred occupants of the flimsy booth literally feared to make a move and they spent the most harrowing three hours possible." In 1940 and 1941, the Dairy Bowl also served as the home of the Milwaukee Chiefs of the third American Football League.
   * MARQUETTE STADIUM (1952) - Also housed Marquette football team. The stadium, located at W. Clybourn and 36th Sts., seated 24,000. It was taken down in 1978.
    * COUNTY STADIUM (1953-94) - It was the last NFL stadium where bothe benches were on the same side - the east sideline. The park was demolished in 2000 to make parking lot for Miller Park.
